One major reason for the supreme popularity of “Downton Abbey” was the series’ ability to provide viewers with an incredible cast of characters. In fact, audiences are so dedicated to these characters and their storylines, they can’t help but desire the creation of a “Downton Abbey” movie.

“I really think these characters did become a part of peoples’ lives,” said Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham) during a recent interview with ITV News. “They were very real to people, which is enchanting and lovely.”

Whether it’s Lady Mary’s love life that enthrals you; Thomas’ mischievous ways that anger you; or the constant quips of Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham that make you howl with laughter; someone, or many someones from the “Downton Abbey” cast, have kept you glued to your screen.
