Five decades into his acting career and Morgan Freeman is arguably one of the most respected and gifted performers of his era. He can effortlessly jump from easygoing to intensive roles and from light-hearted films to those that send a shiver up your spine. If all else fails, his trusted, comforting voice alone can cradle you like a baby.

It is this versatility that has allowed Freeman to not just exist in film as long as he has, but also continuously evolve and impress audiences.

These facts haven’t been lost on Freeman’s peers and critics, as the actor’s trophy case includes one Academy Award (Best Actor in a Supporting Role for “Million Dollar Baby”) and a Golden Globe (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for “Driving Miss Daisy.”) In 2012, The Golden Globes also presented Freeman with the Cecil B. Demille Award for his “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.”

As part of VisionTV’s Black History Month celebration, we will be airing a pair of Freeman’s iconic films: “Driving Miss Daisy” (Wednesday, February 17 at Midnight ET/9pm ET) and “The Shawshank Redemption” (Tuesday, March 1 at Midnight ET/9pm ET.)

To get you ready for these cinematic classics, we take a look back at some of the most memorable Morgan Freeman films to date.
